I think a lot of it is in the mind. Cultivate the inner 14yo is my motto.

Maybe, but I've been laid up with an arthritic hip since Friday so I can't play the mind angle right now.

I'm usually guessed to be in my early 50s but hobbling around like Long John Silver today has negated that somewhat.

Motto: You're only young once but you can be immature forever.

^^^^ This, my wife tells me regularly that I am "worse than our sons", whatever that means.

I’ve come accept that there are certain things I just can’t do, at the gym, anymore. More the motion than weight. Shoulder presses as an example. The other day a younger guy was spotting me on bench and he was surprised that I didn’t do a 5th rep of my last set.

“You had it bro”

”maybe so but at my age I don’t need it”

My shoulder is shot since highschool.  I love lifting.  It is so addictive.

I'm 39, a shave and a week of sobriety can put me back 10 years

Yeah, but does that get you laid more?

That's the question that keeps me 5-10 pounds over fighting weight

No it does not, juice aint worth the squeeze.

Had my annual physical last week.  Doc asks how things are going.

"Remember me telling you about my ankle hurting last year and you said an Orthopedic would put me in a boot for 6 months...."

"Well. It's the same."

Leaves bro. We are all leaves. My man Marcus said;

"Leaves, some the wind scatters on the ground—So is the race of man." Leaves, also, are thy children; and leaves, too, are they who cry out so if they are worthy of credit, or bestow their praise, or on the contrary curse, or secretly blame and sneer; and leaves, in like manner, are those who shall receive and transmit a man's fame to after-times. For all such things as these "are produced in the season of spring," as the poet says; then the wind casts them down; then the forest produces other leaves in their places. But a brief existence is common to all things, and yet thou avoidest and pursuest all things as if they would be eternal."

Youve apparently waited too long, the same as I did. I gimped around for years. That was a big and unnecessary mistake on my part.
