what size Gomexus Power Knob for penn 704z handle ?

Mark, here are a few pictures of the knobs that I have. Most are Vanstaal  knobs. The 2nd picture, the two middle knobs are Zee bass . The two black ones are VS. They have screws that go into the threaded collar. I am currently working on finishing up my polished, Pennstaal, so I used the handles  for those two reels for reference. VS has different size knobs, and the studs, or arbors that connect them to the handles, are two different sizes. That would be the pictures where two studs are next to each other. I tried to show some different configurations of the knobs, on the handles. There are two pictures of a Penn  700 handles, first version, second version, drilled out, polished. Those were on the Penn 700 Spinfisher reels. If you look, the difference is the knuckle that screws on to the gear shaft, is threaded, It is offset just a bit. I also removed the knurling on that top nut, polished the nut. There is also a picture of a pancake 706, Greenie, with another custom type knob as well. The t-handle knob, is a custom knob done by some one on here I believe, was an option for the VS. The difference between the Zee bass knobs and the VS, is that the Zeebass has a collar that has threads in it. The screw just tightens against the knob to the handle. The VS, has a stud with threads, and a nut with a washer.  Like I said, pictures, 11, and 12, are the two studs for the VS. They are different sizes and lengths, as you can see in the pictures. Either will fit a Penn handle. the larger VS handle, is longer, fits better. That's why I was saying you would like that better. You can use the smaller, knob, but, you have to file down the thickness of the of the handle, just a little to get the nut to grab some threads, as the stud is shorter, and thinner in diameter. There are also a few pictures of the OEM Penn handles, next to the polished ones, to show the difference. That polished reel 706, is about 95% done, I will post some pictures when I am done. It is one bad MOFOER. Well, I know its  a lot, but these knobs are much better than most. They are solid, more expensive, but worth it. If you need anything explained, just ask. I hope this helps.

Thanks Mark. They are all Penn handles. The one I believe you are talking about is the one similar to the white pancake handle? That one I bought years ago. I actually contacted Penn, with pictures, get info on it. They said they never made that. It was a custom knob, put on, and peened over by some one who did a hell of a job on it. It looks just like an OEM. The polish takes some work, but is well earth it. They display well..

That curved handle as opposed to the other regullar penn handles. You have it in the palm of your hand in one of the photos....silver knob.....in another photo it has a t knob

The first picture, is the earlier 700 Spinfisher version, with the green, curved handle. 1960 to 1962 I believe. The other 700 Spinfisher, is the second version, from like 1963 to 1966. The last two pictures, I did put the polished handles on the reels.

Lol, Benny, don't ruin a good oem pancake handle. Get a used torpedo one, and drill it.

I bought this Gomexus a few years ago planning to put on a BG5000, never got around to it and won’t at this point.

Not sure the exact Gomexus model but if anyone thinks they could find a use for it PM me and I’ll send it.

Good of you to offer it up man, hope all is well. If you don't get rid of it to some one, I could find a handle that would use it. I am pretty sure there are a few guys that could use it.

Quick question if you don’t mind.
When I bought my first 704z wanted to make it bail-less. Went to a B&T asked for a kit and the guy brought this out. I was dumbstruck so just bought it and it’s been sitting in a tray on my ottoman for years with a few knickknacks.
Your pictures seem to show something similar(?). Would this thing actually work?

Hey man, yes it would. I have one as well. They basically just cut the bail down. You can grind it right off, or leave a small piece hanging off of it. I have seen various over the years. Those became available when the others were not. I have cut it right off flush before...
