Do I really need McAfee ?

I could use some good advice.  My iMac is unGodly slow to act.  Yes, it's over 5 years old.   Yes, I'm dumb about these things.   I have MacKeeper and do the scans regularly.

Now I have an email that my MacAfee has expired.  Do I need this in addition to the MacKeeper ?   This computer is slow to load.   Appreciate your help.  Thanks

I am not a Mac person but I would strongly suggest that you look at Malwarebytes for security and Ccleaner for cleanup.  Both work with Macs and in my experience have been far more efficient / faster than other offerings. At least run the free version of Ccleaner and see if it helps your speed. MacAfee is both slow and not all that effective.

Similar stuff hits my inbox all the time.

 

You really need to keep track of what you pay for on a subscription basis. There are plenty of folks that will mass mail renewal notices just to see what they can reel in.

Start simple.

 

I put the free version of AVG Antviris on my laptop and phones ages ago, run scheduled scans and am good.

 

It blows my mind that nobody asked how much porn you watch yet.
