When I’m on kayak, I watch for boats. I’m not risking my life, hoping they see me.  Always have my flag up, light on in darkness.  I’m usually last one to come in.

Make sure you take the ferry over to Sag Harbor and stop into Tight Lines Tackle and speak with the owner Ken Morse. He’s a wealth of information about the fishing in the area. Unfortunately you are too late to get a state night fishing permit for the state parks. If you have a 4wd, you can get a Suffolk County 4wd permit which also serves as a nighttime permit. I don’t think they sell just a night fishing permit for Suffolk.

Iv think one has to be resident to Suffolk county in order to get 4x4 permit.

Isn't there something about green key and residential status?
