Some LI Fishing Trivia and Just a point of information regarding The Gilgo Entrance aka "The Farragut Cut".  On June 7,1975 with LIBBA being able to secure the permission of NY State, A Group Of Fishermen made up mostly of Members Of The Farragut Striper Club several of whom were also LIBBA Members used their sweat and muscles to dig through the Dunes and create the cut. It took almost the entire day but the job was done.  At the time parts of The Old Coast Guard Station were still visible. One Founding Member Of Farragut joked that The Access should be known as "The Farragut Cut" since most of the digging was done by its members.  So for many years it was called just that "The Farragut Cut". I have pictures of that day glued into my album but fearful that if I attempt to remove them to scan they will be ruined,  I am in my 80's and not very computer oriented.  Anyway, I thought I would add a little something about The Gilgo Issue.
