Shad fishing 2022

With my usual shad spot turning up basically empty (for me) this year, I was bailed out of a full season skunk from american shad with one caught today on the fly rod (clouser minnow) while looking for stripers. When they are dropping back from their spring run on the big river up north, they can get pretty much as aggressive as hickory shad....just bigger (although the one I caught today was not particularly large)...Unfortunately they didn't put on a full display as they have in past years, where I've caught in excess of 20 on the fly. Aside from the one I landed, I only hooked/lost one other shad. Striper fishing was slow as well as I only caught 2 smallish schoolies as well
