Skunkoff
Who's got weird or unusual baits they plan on trying this season? I got a Bent Minnow to try. Very interested how it performs... Edited March 25, 2022 by Skunkoff
PSeggs
That's really interesting. Very curious to how it does. Weirdest thing I'm going to try is deadsticking a quartered hotdog for pike. Skunkoff and EricDice

Something raw & salted like pork or chicken would last longer wouldn’t it? Were you one of the guys with homemade pork rinds? Those seem like a pike bait
Skunkoff
When I was really young, my grandparents took us to a lake. I'd go off, find a tree branch, tie string to it, tie an opened safely pin on it, and put a hotdog chunk on the pin. Never caught anything. I was like 6 though... 55555s

Bunch of other folks in the midwest said it's a great bait. Something about the combo of salt and grease pike love. Apparently, the cheapest meat dogs work the best. Talkin the .99cent a pack stuff. wok167
I carve a paddle tail on the end of the hotdog then rig on a 1 oz swim bait 5/0 mustad hook. Fish it slow across the bottom. Too fast and the paddle tail tears off. Drag it across the bottom and stop for 5-10 seconds each foot or two. When it starts moving again is when it gets nailed. Killer for Fluke and Weakfish.
