Mets season of hope?

Well the only other two starters i can think of to match these guys were Randy and Schilling.. and these two are definitely better. I’m liking our chances if Jake starts 25. I’d even bring back Conforto for 3 years and 80mill to balance the lineup.

But who am i kidding, i always believe the Mets have a chance.

A lot to like about this team. Strong starting pitching and even depth in the rotation. A lineup that work counts and get on base at an above average clip. Better defenders in the OF at all the positions. And a manager that has already demonstrated he can handle the NY media while being meticulous with his preparations. Buck was not my first choice but I think he realizes that this is his last shot and he needs to use all the tools (analytics) at his disposal.

.

Heard he declined a 100 mil offer last year.  Not sure what it would take to bring him back, or if they should.  He may have over played his hand.

Boras guy. Off last season, needs to prove himself. Give the opt out after 1 or 2 seasons as well. He’s already missed the big money until he has a bounce back year, which I believe he will.

as a long suffering mets fan, i think we all know, to expect the unexpected and err on the side of "how the **** did that happen to us oh the pain"

He's 66 years old. Definitely his last shot, lol. As a Yankee fan, I liked Showalter, but he's a builder, not a winner. Hence the reason the yanks let him go, Arizona let him go and Texas let him go. Yanks won after he was let go, Diamonds backs won after he was let go, and the Rangers made it to the WS after he was let go. I don't count Baltimore, as the only reason they hired him was to give the fans the appearance of tryin to win.

I think Buck got shafted when they replaced him on the Yankees.

Torre was a terrible manager in three different decades up until he stepped onto a vastly superior team which could’ve won with more than a few different managers, including Buck. Now Bucks going to have his NY $ and his chance.

I believe Zimmer was the baseball guy in that Yankee dugout anyway. Big respect for his feel for the game. Torre was a manager whom i watched as player mngr in flushing, then Atlanta, and St Louis. None impressive.

One down.... three left to go. Scherzer with a little Hammie tightness, throwing tomorrow to see if he makes opening day. Can't make it up.

Clueless Joe was the perfect name for him, he fell into the right job at the right time. Zimmer was just a buddy for going out to dinner and convincing him to put Mo' in in the 9th night after night. Other than that, fill out the lineup card and watch them do their business. I will give him credit though for handling Steinbrenner better than all the others, somehow he survived. he wore pitching staffs out, specifically bullpens, by August everybodies arm was hanging.

The mets staff with deGrom and Scherzer is as dominant as two starters can get, health is the main concern for both. The Phillies staff never compared to these 2.  Showalter did his best work in Baltimore, he had nothing and gave it a run a few years ago, he will do a good job in Mets land, the issue now is too many playoff games to get through, being the best doesn't mean your going to the end.  Nice team, forget Conforto, he wants $80 mil and he hit .230 last year which should have been one of his prime years. No wonder nobody is taking the bait.  Give these guys 2-3 years and if they don't produce, buh-bye.

Lets go Mets, it all begins On Thursday.!!

Comforto must be sweating about now. Terrible decision turning down 100mill from the Mets. I’d still take him as a 4th OF at the qualifying offer. Bet he has a bounce back year too.

I’d really hate to see him on the Braves becoming a Met killer..
