Onslow Beach North Carolina

Heading to NC first week in April. Any advice on plugs tins etc would be greatly appreciated.

Onslow Beach is not part of the Outer Banks. It is about 75 miles south of Ocracoke.

If you would fish a bay differently than a barrier island then yes.  Onslow is ~ 124 miles SW of the OBX.  It is 80 miles west and 50 miles south. It actually sits on Onslow Bay and is not a barrier island. The currents (and wind) are also totally different as the OBX is where the gulf stream and labrador current meet. 

 

Onslow is the red dot.

So this Sub-Forum only covers the top half of NC surf fishing, there isn’t a sub-forum that covers the lower half then.  Should it be expanded to cover the bottom half of the coast (seems like that is what it is used for, at least occasionally).  OH

I would like to see one that covered Southern NC and SC as well but I think this one should remain OBX/Hatteras as that area is unique from the others.

I’ve been guilty too of posting about the Crystal Coast here.  I agree the OBX is it’s own world for fishing (and otherwise too).  Maybe another sub-sub forum like the one for Core Banks - except from Shackleford Banks south where the barrier islands hug the coast. OH

There hasn't been a posting in the Core Banks sub since 8/21. Maybe change it to Carolina Coasts and cover from OBX south?

@TimS  Would this be possible?

It would be a great help for some of your southern members to contribute and it is not an area currently covered.

Just make it a North Carolina page and all problems are solved. Just like the other state forums.
