This should be fun. Just picked it up on a score. 1998 16' DV Mirrocraft. 99 Evinrude 15.

Nice boat…….Does it have a floor?  Benches or split box?
What does the v bottom look like at the transom?

Can you take a picture of the transom? I’m interested in seeing how the v-bottom finishes at the transom. I have a 16 ft. Duranautic and all the Alumacraft videos I see look like they ride smoother than mine in rough water. I’m curious to see the lines at the transom.

I know nothing about this boat. A friend of mine on the site had suggested this hull. I will take some pics and post. The graphics are 90's horrendous but its all there. No floor all aluminum with bench seats. I may or may not add a floor but will be putting more flotation in for sure. A deck on top would be great.

Yeah….that flattens out in the back. Mine is rounded a little but it’s  virtually the same. I guess if these16 footers we’re deeper v’d in the transom they would need too much hp and wouldn’t be that stable port to starboard.  I need a bigger driveway……

Modified V's work great in following seas. But on steep following seas you would want a full vee and length. My Northcoast had my model in a 3000 dollar upgrade in full vee.  This model of Mirrocraft has rocker so that also helps in following seas.

I would like to see the underside of a Mirrocraft that is a real deep vee.

Ok. It appears all the Deep V from Mirrocraft are Modified V. It makes sense but my idea of a Deep V is the old school way. Not modified. Looked at a clip from youtube with a Deep V and its the same as mine.

Most 16 ft. V hulled aluminums have enough V in the front…it’s what it tapers to at the transom that really dictates the ride. A lot of them flatten out. (No V at the transom) When the hull is constructed that way, it has V up front to part the wave but the transom end goes up on the wave and slaps. With any kind of speed in choppy water, you get an utrasonic cleaning of your kidneys….However with V entry you can at least run level and not nose up like a  completely flat hull. Without a doubt. That's why I LOVE my 20yr old Starcraft Patriot 160. Over 6' beam with 12 degrees of deadrise a the transom. All welded too. Not a speed demon, but with a 25hp 4 stroke it does 23mph

Thanks for sharing that. I will keep it on my radar. Dry ride? Or Dryer?

Idk too much about boat bottoms- but I had a 12’ aluminum and caught many fish in it and always had a great time. I think I had a 10hp and it was plenty fast. It was a modified V. And it leaked- I had to pump water every hour lol

I know the bigger V bottom of say like a contender fiberglass boat really cuts through the water- but is less stable when sitting in the water fishing (like rolling with the seas/waves) which would make a bigger difference in a small boat- maybe that’s why it’s hard to find a deeper v bottom under 16’?

anyways- I hope you enjoy it! And catch a lot of fish! They are great for inlets and back areas at night. Also- remember, adding floors and such sounds great, but it also adds more weight and more to clean. The weight may or may not be good- but it will slow you down.

have fun with it!!!

Yes, it's pretty dry. I will get spray in a heavy cross wind, but when cutting into waves they roll away.

I owned the boat in 2010, and sold it to get an 18 Maycraft. Between stripers and largemouth I've had about 10 boats in between. About a year ago I saw the boat for sale on FB marketplace and wound up buying it back.
