Newport Striper
As all the freshwater anglers out there know, Alabama rigs (A-rigs) are killer for largemouth. I want to experiment with A-rigs for striper this year and am looking for a product/brand suggestion. Does anyone have a favorite A-rig for stripers? Specifically, one with hardware that can withstand the striper of a lifetime. Thanks for your advice!
hunter123
The fish finder rig, best to use for soaking bait for stripers. Top and bottom are ok, but the FF rig is the best. Capt, Frank Mundus. The man, the myth, the legand.

I think most castable umbrella rigs with a lead head will hold up if you only run an armed hook down the middle Run hookless baits around the perimeter with a stinger down the middle. Be sure to check your regulations If you're running hooked baits on the arms...do a pull test to see. Lots of castable umbrella rigs use spinnerbait gauge wire...not something that will hold up well to a 50# if the arms are folded into a weak hanger and stressed. Chris76
Not sure if it's what you want or if it's castable but I've seen small sized 9er umbrella rigs in tackle shops that may work for you. Google 9er rigs. Worth a look anyway. Newport Striper
NHAngler
I just started trolling with umbrella rigs last year with parachute jigs. No success but may be where I was fishing. Will be trying again this year. Edited February 24, 2022 by NHAngler Confidence catches fish! The rest of it is just there to keep us busy. I'm searching for an overbuilt, thick wire, castable A-rig. Sounds like these are hard to come by!
