I’d like to get into this what do I need to know? How long a trail do I need? There’s an old farm that has a few trails through it that’s open to the public that I’ve biked through that’s pretty flat.

Great sport. The only things you need are skis, boots and poles. You can ski on grass when the snow is 4 inches. We used to do it like maniacs…..waywanda here has nice trails. Now, i just do it right in the the property….and back of …..woods. Leaving for my 13th day of alpine….

Go for it.

Gay. Super gay, not a sport (no ball) it’s for people who enjoy suffering with no hope of any kind of payoff or achievement :th:

Was thinking about snow shoes too. Why would you rather snow shoe?

Yoo Otter, try to cross country ski on a regular course with climbs for about 4 to 5 hours and get back to me….you are obiously a fatass. Not a sport? It is one of the toughest sports anywhere….if done seriously.

:beatin:

If you plan on skiing on the woods and non groomed trails get backcountry skis Reed.

:howdy:

I go every day there is snow. For a setup I use leather telemark boots and metal edge skis with fishscales or skins. No trail, I just start up the mountain or hill and see where I wind up, then ski down. Doc says it's the best workout you can get. For longer jaunts I bring 1st aid and survival gear and in some cases a climbing harness and ropes. Being out in the woods in winter is awesome. Depending where you live a place like Carter's in Bethel Maine is a perfect first step.
