nearly all reels work.

its a better question to think about budget instead.

$50 reels work, $1500 reels will work.

IMO levers are a PITA compared to a button release, auto engage, star drag for bottom fishing.

Agree^^^ completely.

No knot is getting stuck in the torium levelwind. The new black ones are very good, I have one, and if the MP has one you just know that it was thoroughly researched and tested.

Get the smallest one available.

A Torium 30 HP was recommended to me as a good value tilefish reel by a knowledgeable source.

Didn't you recommend a 35H in the other thread? Its not push button or auto engage? So you agree 33%?

there are lever drags that auto engage..  just saying..
even other LD reels, if you use it often enough,
your thumb will know by memory where strike is when you flip it up.

I still don't like LD for no other reason that I've been star drag for bottom fishing all my life.  But that is a purty reel.
