This is what the CDC says.  I believe they are lying.(or out of date)   I know 9 people currently with covid, and every one of them is fully vaccinated.  I do not believe that "most people who get covid are unvaccinated"

 

Not today. maybe before vaccines were widely available, but not today

How many infections will it take in fully vaccinated people before "break through"  infections are so common they are no longer referred to as break throughs?

It depends on your definition of "works" ( @codfish ) which would dictate the definition of "failed". The CDC’s pre-breakthrough definition of vaccination said the process would impart "immunity" which would prevent infection. The cureent definition dropped reference to "immunity" and says it should provide protection against severe illness. Thus, according to the CDC, being vaccinated now only means that you are protected against severe illness, not granted immunity to infection. 
 

And good thing they changed that definition in September since vaccination is proving to be little defense against infection and even hospitalization. Demographic data on those being hospitalized would be helpful.

The coronavirus has reached remote Antarctica, striking most of the 25 Belgian staffers at a research station, despite all of them being fully vaccinated, passing multiple PCR tests, and quarantining before arrival.

 

Two thirds of the researchers working in Belgium’s Princess Elisabeth Polar Station have caught Covid, the Daily Telegraph reported, “proving there is no escape from the global pandemic.”

 

None of the cases are severe, according to the Telegraph.There are two emergency doctors at the station monitoring the situation.

All 25 researchers were fully vaccinated and one had a booster shot. Before leaving for the station, they underwent a PCR test in Belgium two hours before flying to South Africa.

In South Africa, they quarantined for ten days and took another PCR test. A further test was needed when leaving Cape Town for Antarctica and a final one five days after that.

One person tested positive seven days after arriving at the station on December 14. The person was isolated but tests revealed two others had caught the virus. The three were evacuated on December 23 but the virus has continued to spread.

Belgium’s Polar Secretariat will not allow any new arrivals until the virus dissipates, and has decided the research season will be shortened, the Telegraph reported.

 

Staff will reportedly remain at the station until around January 12, when new expeditions will arrive.

 

Data continues to come in showing that the vaccines are not only powerless against the highly transmissible, but mild Omicron variant—the new strain appears to favor the fully vaccinated.

 

In Canada, 76.87 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, and 81.1 percent of recent cases are amongst the fully vaccinated, Dr. Ezra Kahan reported on Twitter.

 

 

A Robert Koch Institute report released on Thursday foundthat that 95.58 percent of the Omicron cases in Germany are fully vaccinated, including  28 percent who had received a “booster.” Only 4.42 percent of the Omicron cases in Germany are unvaccinated.

Reportedly, 71.1 percent of the total population is fully vaccinated in Germany.

In Israel, 61 percent of the cases for the week ending on Dec. 25 were boosted. Another 18 percent were fully vaccinated. Only 19 percent were unvaccinated.

Maybe.  i don't trust government figures though.  But maybe.  I won't dispute that right now.

 

What percentage effective are the vaccines at preventing infection?  In the beginning(which was July for Biden)  they told us 100%.  What the efficacy at preventing infections now?

Everyone with half a lick of sense knew the virus would mutate, and that making a vaccine for a specific virus was folly.

Oh.  So we need a whole new set of vaccines?  Because the first ones failed

 

Did hat same thing happen with measles and  polio and small pox.  Lot's of break throughs and we needed a new vaccine when they came roaring back?

the left talks about vaccines like they talk about communism.  it just hasn't been done right yet.  Next time it will work

You are making a great case that the vaccines failed.

Since this is mutation and by my research it seems that a downfall of an mRNA vaccine is that it is highly specific.  Sad part is with each shot you 'teach' your cells to deal with the OG Covid.  And when thats all you know you are open for attack.  It has been posited that the more vaccine shots you had, the further you decreased your bodies ability to deal with the variants.  This is why we are seeing spectacularly vaccinated people getting infected.

 

This particular vaccine was a success for OG Wu strain.  Maybe even Delta a bit, but there is still alot of that around.  For Omicron?  The 'science' says the more vaxxed you are the more likely you are to get it.  Which is why I know dozens and dozens AND dozens of infected people suddently in Dec. (none seriously sick) with Omicron and knew only a dozen or so for the prior two years.  And also why I will be passing on further jabs.
