Tough first day of the year for me. Hooked a couple whitefish that got mauled by bull trout but couldn’t get any to commit to the streamer. Pretty day before the next round of storms roll in tonight.

Hooked somebody’s badass tie too. October caddis complete with gravel husk.

What's that white crap on the ground?

Was 55 in CT yesterday.  I actually broke a sweat hiking out.  The ski resorts are all hurting in the NE this winter.

Happy new year, may it be a healthy, happy, and fishy year for us all.

We’ve had a tremendous amount of snow in the last two weeks, my local river went from 700cfs to 7000 cfs to accommodate low elevation snow melt, so my first steelhead trip of the year is postponed until the flows come down. The silver lining is that it’s blown out all the salmon carcasses so my waders

wont smell like rotten fish for two months this year.

In the NE we had a tremendous amount of water , snow & rain the last year that winter fishing right now it’s pretty good and our rain and snow is pretty minimal, skiers are not happy .

Happy New Year and nice to see this going. Not quite a '22 fish but took this and three others on the morning of the 31st, so technically last of 2021. Cabin fever setting in. time to start tying.

Spent a few days down at pyramid this week. Fishing was pretty slow overall. Everyone I talked to said the same thing. The weather was too nice. Sunny skies and not a breath of wind. Saw two possible double digit fish caught in 3 1/2 days. I think I landed 6 fish in that time. Nothing big, relatively speaking. There wasn’t one pattern or technique working better than another. Got fish stripping leeches, as well as leeches and chironomids under a bobber. It’s always a good time down there.

Sure thing. Yes, I tied it.

It is a amphipod pattern I use for saltwater searun cutthroat.

Saturday I fished in on a full intermediate line with short, sharp strips to make it hop.

Yesterday I fished it on a floater as a dropper 3’ behind a foam floating amphipod version covering risers with a slow strip. 70/30 hookup ratio on the dropper versus the floating version but the topwater takes were great.
