4runner antenna replacement options?

10 posts in this topic

I have a 2012 4runner and it is the standard mast antenna..   it gets bent or comes off during the car wash.

I have heard good and bad on replacement power antenna and short antennas.

Has anyone had success with a replacement antenna?

Thanks.  I have read that about this.  Also read sometime the shorter antennas get poor reception.

Hopefully.others will leave their experiences.

I had the same issues with my Tacoma. I opted for a flexible 12" mast the just screws right on. Never had an issue with reception or car washes again. Nine years now. I think unless you live in a very rural area, reception isn't a problem.

In the past I have just removed it entirely, got a cable extension and mounted it behind the grill on more than one vehicle.  Usually when a customer found out the cost of replacing a power antenna was the reason.
