straight shooter
I stopped by my local Chinese grocery store today. When I checked out the fish counter I became a bit concerned. Laying on a bed of ice were about a dozen striped bass ranging from 11 to 15 inches. What are the commercial regulations in regards to striped bass. If this is illegal who do I report this to. I have to say it was a sad sight. Carrot

stripedbassking
Possibly farm raised, but it wouldn’t be the first time poached fish have been put up for sale. May be worth a call into the wardens to check it out. There aren’t any regulations that allow for that small of striped bass to be harvested 55555s 1 GOD made my Mold different from the rest, Then he broke that mold so I know I'm Blessed. Pistol Pete
These are often farm raised... Stumpy looking, odd proportions... (Very pointy short nose, wider body) If I am not mistaken, some are hybrids with white perch (aka "wipers")

One thing that often gives them away is irregular, broken stripes. If the fish look like bass, sleek with uninterrupted stripes, it would be worth talking to the enforcement folks. No state, not even Maryland, allows fish that small to be legally harvested. Oh, I doubt very highly if a local Chinese market would willfully and knowingly break a fishing regulation. Its probably farm raised or just a big misunderstanding. relentless pursuit and Fergal 2 . A sure sign of Farmed and Hy Bread Bass versus Wild is The Stripes but there are variations. all 3 photos are not Wild ones Edited December 1, 2021 by Cheeckakoe
