Awesome....AWESOME fish there Joe !  This ought to give an idea on what the VR50 can do .......look at the size of those beauties.

Any releases??

Thank you sir and all were released

even though these were all hard pullers they never gave the VR a run it could not handle. 20 pound braid to 30 pound floro all on 1 ounce jigs

same setup I used on the big reds I caught last month except I switched from the Lamiglas 7’6 rod shown here to an EDGE 7’6 MH 12-15 pound line rating for  the bass

Those a must be great rods. I have a phenix and it’s truly a modern marvel how these light yet strong blanks at reasonable prices deliver for us.

Not a chance it has a 0.23mm dia. The 8lb has an actual dia of .23mm though....

hmmm........i thought our line test thread pinned on the main forum had similar numbers listed for the 14lb.??  Or was it Paulus' tests??

Was curious the VR75 has supposedly  a longer stem, can anyone vouch for this (my vr150 is a knuckle buster) haven't been able to see one in person yet!

They fixed that on the 50........that got a longer stem also.......:th:

Not trying to burst your bubble (I like Fireline) I'm just jealous of your new rods and reels you see....

Our pinned thread says 8lb 8 strand Fireline has a dia of 0.23mm.

If the 14lb broke at 40lb and had a dia of .23mm it would have a strength to weight ratio of 3.55 and be 42% stronger (relative to its dia) than any other line line he has tested which is impossible unfortunately

Paulus physically measured (original) 14lb at its thinnest point  (0.23mm) and widest point (0.362mm) and then averaged them for 0.296mm (Ninja level nerd: I still have his test results from 2016 before the site was taken down)

Gotcha………. I’ll have to go back and review some of those stats again and educate myself a little better on those numbers :th:

Gotcha...............I'm pretty confident with the newer Gen 2 VR50's and 75's.........sounds like the upgrade in the beefier spoolshafts and gears are promising for bigger fish :th:

this is not true,

the Gen 2VR50 and VR75 ,

do not have beefier spool shaft.

only changes to the Gen2 vr50andvr75 is the gear is cut deeper.
