Just replaced my Salt X for a Carbon Surf with the same ratings, only out a few small fish on it but it feels nice. Though mine is rated 3/4-3oz it feels like it doesn’t load up well enough at 1oz, but I might need some more time to adjust to it. Looking forward to finishing out the season with it

I have the same rod. I agree 100% - the rating seems a bit inaccurate. The rod is technically mod/fast but I would say it’s on the faster side. It does not throw anything under 1.25 oz very well, especially non-aerodynamic lures. I’d say the sweet spot is about 1.75-2.5oz.

It has some good back bone though and really let’s you horse a fish in. The rod is also pretty light, I have it paired with a Penn battle 5500, though I’d probably suggest a 4500 sized reel if I could do it again. I also get a good amount of line slap with my reel pairing, but I’m not sure that’s the rod’s fault.

While I do like the rod, I’ll probably sell it at the end of the season. I hear really good things about ODM DNA rods and Jigging World Shadow Surf, both have the same rating and are the same price. There is no shortage of 9’ rods with a 3/4-3oz rating out there.

TL;DR, it’s a nice rod, a bit stiff, sweet spot at 1.75-2.25. Depending on what you often throw you may love it.

I have the 9’. 3/8-2 oz. use it for throwing 3/4 -1.25 oz tins and jigs on Florida surf for Spanish Macs, blues, snook etc. and bait with 2oz for whiting and pompano.  It’s a nicely finished rod with good components for the money.   Moderate with good backbone. Was overmatched by a 50 pound tarpon that fortunately straightened the hooks on my small tin after 3 jumps and a 50 yard run. Lol.
I also like the jigging world shadow line as a line with quality components and moderate action. My rod is 10’ 3/4”-3 oz. I’m surprised they don’t get more mention in this site at the $200 price range.
