I also have the SS1145 Graphene (9'6") and it is my favorite rod.  Lightweight, comfortable and throws a mile!  It is a two piece but that has never been a problem.  A decent substitute for less money is the Black Hole Suzuki S-962, also a two piece rod.  Good luck with your decision!

Which of the Van Staal's would you recommend on the SS1145?  The 50 or 150?

Sorry - I have no experience with Van Stahl - I am a Shimano guy.  The reels I use are in the 14-16 oz range

No worries.  Sounds like you love the Slingshot which is good to hear.

The 150. My buddy put a Saragossa 6000 on it. It works well on it also

Yes the VR models.  Thats what Im thinking.  Its 9oz vs 19oz.  Im in my 50s so whipping an extra 10oz around is impactful.  Im thinking I can always get a 75 spool and put it on the 50 if that helps with distance.  Thanks for your feedback (and on the other thread)!

I absolutely love my new St. Croix Seage! I have the 10’ 6” 3/4-4 oz., but they also make a 10’ that I’m sure would be just as nice.

I am using a St. Croix Seage Surf Spinning Rod 11 ft. The St. Croix Seage Surf Spinning Rod is built on a rugged, reengineered SCII carbon fiber blank that's significantly lighter and flexurally stronger than previous formulations. I think it’s a good rod.

I really like my GSB. But I do like my Salt X’s too. I have a 10ft and 8 1/2ft.

Where’s the cheapest place to buy SaltXs in the Rhode Island area?  Do any shops let you test them before you buy?

Not sure I’m in CT. But since I’ve posted that I’ve also gotten a st croix seage which I love. I got the 9ft ml it’s 3/8-1&1/2 oz. Which is my soft plastics rod.
