>> Your sense of 'freedom' will continue to diminish as long as the population increases.

^^ This. Overpopulation is the root of our problems, but no one wants to talk about it. Just blame the other side in a never-ending shouting match. Having several kids was always the noble goal, but that was the old days and is now an outdated concept. We need to look at the big picture and control our population growth. But that aint gonna happen. We always avoid the hard conversations and the hard choices.

When the striper fishing slows to a halt, it's FW for me.  Stripers have been hanging around my area much longer than in past years (climate change? :worms:).  But they're on their way out.  Another week for me and it's all FW from there.

Move closer to work. Run multiple errands per trip. Get a more efficient car. Get some exercise if you can - most Americans need it.

If you drive 10k miles/yr @ 25 miles/gal = $400 per dollar increase.

The more you drive, the more you pay - is there something not fair about that? Roads don't pay for themselves unless you want to go back to tolls. For most people a rise in gas by even a buck is only hundreds of dollars a year. A lot of folks here spend twice that or more on fishing gear. If you drive for work, then you can expense it anyway.

People bitch about gas prices no matter what.

We already pay more the more we drive. More frequent car maintenance which is taxed, more gas (quantity) which is taxed, etc. The 20K miles per year driver pays more fuel tax than the 10K per year driver. The roads are paid for many times over.  Sure, in CT, I'll go tolls. After they eliminate the income tax and cut the gas tax accordingly. On the federal income tax form there is a line item that asks if you want to pay more taxes to the government above of what you owe, feel free to go above and beyond.

Gas prices literally have nothing to do with the Great Recession. Subprime mortgages and generally failing to regulate the financial industry caused the Great Recession.

Gas prices were artificially low last year due to much less demand. Now the demand has gone up significantly and as expected the prices have gone up again. We have some of the lowest gas prices in the developed world due to low gas taxes and significant oil/gas subsidies. Rising prices suck, especially for the many Americans out there who insist on buying a way larger vehicle than they need, but expecting 2020 prices to last long was unrealistic.

Don’t forget that we were producing more oil

under Trump. Prices weren’t “artificially” low. They were low for a reason: we had a competent president.

Like used cars boat prices skyrocketed the last 1 1/2 years.  Do you think they will crash with the cost of fuel going through the roof?  I don't see used cars coming down anytime soon.  I see Cuba.

I certainly hope they come down. Boats are $10k more this year than last year. I can’t afford one.

Our population would be fine if we didn’t keep allowing illegals and refugees to flood our neighborhoods.

My severely autistic 9 YO son has more intelligence evident in some of his monosyllabic grunts.

@DaveC Hasn’t this thread  officially crossed the PG line?

@WannaBe1982 bring some evidence & logic. Like Uncle Junior said in the Sopranos, “next time you come heavy or don’t come at all.”

I’ve spent more on gas the last month than any two months last year.  I can’t afford to drive 90 minutes each way.  #FJB

How much more did you spend? Was it 5% more? 10% more? 50% more?

can you imagine if you were getting mileage taxed on top of that?

I'm looking at 600 miles minimum weekly commuting....If fuel costs rise above 4$/ gallon (which they're on the cusp of) then I get taxed on top of that.......it's gonna get ugly.

Start fishing FW....it can be far more rewarding especially if you live in NJ/PA

In NYC we pay $5 plus per gallon.

So you are saving $1 per gallon at least.

Be happy citizen, do your part to save the planet, pay your fair share, keep working , freeloaders are depending on you!!!!

OK Team Brilliant.

This is a thread that got moved.  It has normal people in it for almost 4 whole pages.  These are the guys you need to be worried about.  They will not read @KnewBeescreeds.  Nor Tom's.  They are not PG people.  They will demolish dems in 2022.  So be prepared for epic cheating.

Lets Go Brandon.
