WTS Shimano Ultegra CI4+ 5500 XSB

Recommended Posts

In great shape, no issues. I changed the T handle to a EVA foam power knob (much more comfy). Has 3 spools, spacers, bag, & box.

$200 picked up near the Cape Cod canal or add $15 for a paypal & shipping option.615b82facdb71_IMG_20210803_1655521.thumb.jpg.a8890b29d477ddb8d44caea24ed7a012.jpg615b831e6019a_IMG_20210803_1707401.jpg.bd0b555295dd0933bc903b694929f54c.jpg615b82aa575b4_IMG_20211004_1756551.jpg.17861775143acef68749fcf230fdd53e.jpg615b833ddf5a3_IMG_20211004_1757391.jpg.6eb2b53e06a5a74f16ef3a69ac2df5b4.jpg

I appreciate the offer but don't want to let it go that low.

Understood. How about $180 shipped?

Best I can offer is $195 shipped, that really is my bottom line on this.

can't really tell, but does this reel have the inner drag knob that can be adjusted (i.e. like an instant drag type reel, some shimano's have this feature, the inner drag  knob actually sets the fighting drag, and the outer drag knob is the instant drag/baitrunner).

The reel features "instant drag" which is marketing speak for a more sensitive adjustment. 1 click is more like 3 clicks on a regular shimano drag. It in no way has any baitrunner features to it.

i'm not talking about a baitrunner perse, not like flipping a lever on the back.  rather, the drag knob is like a dual drag.   Some ultegras have it and I've seen it on the shimano power aero's.  thanks for the info though. still thinking about it.

I'm not totally sure of what dual drag is. This reel has a traditional drag system albeit quicker and more sensitive than normal. There are so many forms of Ultegras it is hard to be fully familiar exactly what features all the others have.

This version is feather light (Ci4+) at 15 or so ounces, has super slow oscillation and as a result, produces line lay better than any reel I own (better than my Stella SW & Daiwa Isla) and contributes to longer casts in concert with the longer LC Surf spools.

The aftermarket foam power knob also cuts a little weight off and greatly improves feel as well as lessens handle inertia that tends to cause unintended bail flips. The XSB Ci4+ is one step down (@$320 msrp) from the aero fligan (spelling) which was the Ultegra series top dog but was also very expensive (+$600).

What line do you have on the spool in the picture? Are the spare spools empty or full as well?

That is Daiwa J braid 30#, other spools have 20# 4 strand (not sure brand), & 40# Sufix 832. I can include any lines that are wanted and remove any that are not. I can always use the line on something else. Some find value in used braid, others don't.

Just as an FYI, I found a pic of what I'm talking about.  The inner knob (grippy, serrated part) controls the fighting drag, while the outer/overlying knob controls "instant drag" or baitrunner function.

Interesting, never seen that before. This doesn't have that feature.16362250373338643192508801397627.jpg.b3d6ed77c9a712ae0fa9c8af8a400819.jpg
