Love those boiler room shots, no meat ruined, god knows it happens. Great job guys.

Archery shots are the best. It is amazing how much damage a slug can do.

My daughter joined me for a quick Saturday afternoon hunt in z10 and we got this nice doe.  It was great to have her along, especially when it came time to do the dragging.

Even a 20 gauge slug is overkill power for deer. I don't know why on earth some guys are still using 12 gauge. I think it's an ignorance reason. Besides.... A 20 gauge shotgun is lighter to carry. Carrying a heavy 12 gauge in the woods is nonsense. :thdwn:

I have an 1100 auto 20 gauge, it has a green mountain saboted slug barrel on it. Its kind of like a 45 when using a sabbot. That things a shooter

Ammo availability and versatility are why most guys still use 12 gauge slug guns for deer. Especially in the age of ammo shortages.

Scope on a shotgun ????

Sure, I even have one on my old smooth bore slug gun.

Scopes on Muzzle loaders is something I cant quite wrap my head around yet.

We've come a long way from a few guys with Flintlocks and smoothbore TC Renegades finishing up the year with a 3 day season.

Now it's over 2 weeks with 200 yard tack drivers.

But, the deer need to be kept in check so whatever works.

Muzzle loaders are no longer a handicap, they should just combine the season with shotgun and give everyone more time to hunt without buying another gun that some cant afford.

In RI, you can use a Muzzleloader during Shotgun season, as long as you have a shotgun tag, but not vice-versa.

Yup. I used to shoot a rifled Hastings barrel on my 1100 well before rifled barrels were legal.  I think my buddy and I bought the barrels way back in 1985.

The barrels were illegal in Ma. They were primarily for law enforcement. A company called BRI (Ballistic Reaserch Ind) made a sabot slug to match the rifled barrel.

Even with the factory rifle sights, my old 1100 was amazing. 100% difference from the old deer slugs we used in smooth bore barrels.

After a couple years I put a 1.5-4 power Bushnell scope on it.  Really nice.
