Youth day was beautiful. We had a hickey game at 12:20 so that took up a chunk of time. Was a perfect day to be out though.

Nice deer Ged, congrats....interested in what your guise on age would be

Maybe 3.5. His neck is pretty thick already and he was pain to drag out. That could be because I am getting old :)

Anybody ever hunt the Blue Hills?  I've been applying to get in there the past few years but haven't drawn.  My father has drawn and some friends have seen some big deer in there.  But rep. William Driscoll is trying to shut it down.  They have already banned shotgun hunting and now want to give the deer herd contraception in place of hunting....

It honestly makes me sick that that is the way they want to go instead of hunting.  I know that the hunt has always been controversial but it could really be a great opportunity to introduce new urban hunters to the sport seeing as the location is so close to the city.  I wrote Driscoll to tell him how appalled I am and I'm asking other hunters to do the same, please.

Sorry to derail the thread, great buck ged, lets see some more!

Talked to # 1 son last  night. He can get out a day or two...maybe. No scouting done. no game cams out. figure sure this should be the year.

I'll have to make a little ammo , clean the "Ol Deer Getter" and try it out in the next week or two.

I didn’t realize they banned shotguns in there…… and they used covid social distancing as the reason. I really hate politicians. And then Driscoll goes on to talk about how getting the guns out of blue hills was a victory…. No mention of Covid. The guy should be strung up by his boots…. I’d be curious to see what falls out of his pockets.

I am not sure if they banned shot guns. There were changes last season but I thought they were attributed to covid. Although I think that the cost to run the hunt during shot gun was much higher than archery due to police details.

Quite honestly they should just open the land like other public land and let hunters take care of the density problem.

my $.02

There’s an article about Rep William Driscoll out there on the internet. I’d link it but I don’t think that’s allowed. Google him and you’ll find it. He seems quite confident that they’ve canceled the shotgun portion going forward.

I see it’s archery again this season. I hope

other methods come back in future years.
