Hello

I do dome rock fishing in northern California coast.

I had used 15ft daiwa tournament ht tip rod from UK and found it too heavy and too long to use to its full potential.

And have use shimano 13 ft surf rod.

I am thinking of trying out the Daiwa morethan wisemen 13ft rod.

Any experience or recommendations of the lightest 12ft to 13ft rod that can do 3oz will be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply.

13 ft rod is heavier than my 15 ft daiwa tournament surf rod.

I'm from Northern CA not far north and I don't get why you need such a long rod for rock fishing.  You might as well get a kayak if the rock fish are that far out there and not to mention snagging a lot.   The Japanese do rock fishing with long rods but these are rated for less than 10g casting.

The only 13 ft Shimano lure rod that I know is 11ft extendable rated 1.58oz.
The guys in this forum are mostly into Century rods.  I know there is a one the right length and lure range but I don't know the name off the top of my head.

Definitely the wrong forum to ask about stuff like this.

Maybe if you let me know what type of rocks or cliff you do. I can recommend something.

Ive fished iso and beakfish styles before.

6ft 15ft above water, partial submerged rock in front. Sometimes backing against a high cliff, so could be impossible to do a full under hand cast.

Fishing for black, blue rock fish, grenling....

Prefer to use 2 to 3 oz sinker

After hearing your fishing place.  Unless it produces a ton of fish.  Im pretty sure 10/10 users here will ask why youre using since a long rod in such a cramped space. It should be quite disadvantagous to you.

A drop in front, a wall in the back.  Not much working room.  Lol

A much shorter rod at 7-10ft might serve you better to underhand swing lob the rig out. Any decent 1-3oz rated rod, medium to heavy, mod to fast action, can usually smash a 3oz sinker.

A longer 12-15ft works better if your standing on an actual cliff, in the rocks, or in an area with a tidal swell, where you can do a proper cast.
