Hey y’all. In the reel world, I often see lots of different gear materials, and sometimes I get confused about which are the best/worst. How would you rank these materials?

Zinc, Bronze, Brass, Aluminum, Stainless.

Generally brass, bronze and stainless steel are considered superior to zinc and aluminum.

In practice however, machining and geometry play a role as well.

Of course, gears don’t reside in a vacuum so we also have to consider size and how the gearing is supported by the frame, ball bearings etc

Vibranium is hard to machine precisely and the tariffs with Wakanda can be imposing.

With the current nanotechnology in regards to vibranium, it is the best material. Bulletproof as a gear material and if it did get damaged, the nanotechnology can self repair back to original specs.
