Just heard the news of Fred's passing. Absolute shame, such a nice guy. He helped me get into this beautiful sport. Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. I'll be dedicating my next catch to him.

Ugh, I heard the news a short while ago as well.  Besides growing up reading his Long Island Fisherman articles in the 80s, a few years ago I had the pleasure of being introduced to him and meeting up with him on a few occasions.  I really enjoyed his company and our conversations.  So sorry to hear about this.

RIP Fred.  May your days be filled with 50s from the beach.

So much of his knowledge and style have shaped and permanently influenced the realm of surf fishing.  A legend, an example and a piece of history that represented and preserved the essence of surfcasting.  I hope his influence lives on through all of us who practice the art with respect, honor an dignity as he did him self.  Rest in peace Sir.
