Took the kids to the beach last night. Oh they know how to fish, they fish with their father all the time. What Pa taught them was.... what a damn good skunking is like!! I even threw a gurgler and a sand eel at them and nada.

I ruined my kids for fishing by taking them catching too many times.

Their first time striper fishing on a boat with Gary2 we had 10 solid hours of 20# class bass (you've all seen the photos)

3/4 lb snappers off the beach every cast

Smallmouth in the Delaware (before the great die off and rock snot invasion) 50 a day was common

Sunnies at the local pond.

Now they're grown and have no patience to deal with slow trips, just a few fish, which are far more common then they used to be.

Good job mickymac.   Kids have to learn that not everything in life is going to be perfect every time.   Think of some of the idiocy the new generation is experiencing.   Trophies just for showing up, not publishing the honor roll for fear of hurting those who did't make it (somehow I survived that one), able bodied high school kids not having to work summer jobs, not walking to school even if nearby, no consequences for failing courses (teacher's fault), etc.   Fishing teaches humility, especially this year.

I always used to asking my kids if they wanted to go casting and reeling.

Love it

pay it forward, someday, you hope they do the same

Looking like that is a likely long lasting effect well appreciated, maybe not now, but when they look back, doing the same with another generation.

good on ya
