Furnace Natural gas/propane

Had a 110 gallon tank deliver yesterday for the house upstate and the installer kicked on the furnace to check everything out, based on the flame (yellow) he said it’s currently set up to run on Natural Gas. How difficult is it to convert it? A DIY job or hire a pro?

Change out a spring in the regulator (easier to change regulator though) and swap burner orifices out for smaller ones.

The burner orifices can be difficult to source out though.

The BTU rating on the furnace increases when converted to propane.

I would get a second opinion before I believed him.

It could just need the burners adjusted.

Call a pro....

my father in law was here with the guy and he (FIL) said it wasn't a complete yellow flame, it was blue with some yellow.

Again this is just a supplemental heat source to warm up the house quickly when we get here in winter

the main heat will be the beast wood stove :)

Crazy it's August 2 and its going down to 47º here tonight

Unless you have a gas pressure gauge and a combustion gas analyzer don’t attempt it. Especially not with propane.
