It's the time of year for this thread. there's been a bunch of chub mackerel around and reports of Bonito in the usual early areas as well only a matter of time for more numbers of bones to be around and about a month away from albies.

How do I catch a chub mack from shore. Wouldn’t mind bones and albies. But a chub mack is a new species for me

Best bet would probably be the RI jetties. The only time I’ve personally seen them is in a boat well offshore.

I caught a chub Mack off a ri jetty last year. I caught it on a small deadly dick about 1” long. It took many shots to get one so maybe a smaller offering would have worked better but I didn’t have any. Not much of a fight but cool to get a different species and have some action when nothing else is going on.

I was targeting bones on Friday morning. Didn't see any yet. I'll have my funny fish set up with me whenever I hit the salt between now and October.

found what I believed to be Spanish macks last night. they wouldn't eat but I could tell by the tails on the surface. heard rumors of some around for the last week. plenty of schoolies and blues harassing the bait balls though

I found some Chub/Bullet macks last fall ,i caught them for 4 hours once I learned what they wanted. And this was from a jetty, also the first time I caught any.

Just head on over to any of the RI jetties and sling a crippled herring.

I caught a ton of chub mackerel off RI jetties last fall while targeting hardtails.  Got em back in the water ASAP as it was about as exciting as catching boston macks.

I am jazzed for Funnyfish 2021, cannot wait.

Let's face it, now that the stripers have been eliminated thanks to mismanagement and the blues are long gone, funnies are all that's left.

Don’t forget the sea robins.

Been catching the hell out of 'em. Absolutely killin 'em. Wonder if there is a World Record or Mass pin or something?
