He better get moving soon...

China is buying up American farms. Washington wants to crack down

“America cannot allow China to control our food supply,” Pence said Wednesday during a speech at the conservative Heritage Foundation, urging President Joe Biden and Congress to “end all farm subsidies for land owned by foreign nationals.”

Chinese firms have expanded their presence in American agriculture over the last decade by snapping up farmland and purchasing major agribusinesses, like pork processing giant Smithfield Foods. By the start of 2020, Chinese owners controlled about 192,000 agricultural acres in the U.S., worth $1.9 billion, including land used for farming, ranching and forestry, according to the Agriculture Department.

I'm curious as to what people would like to see done.

What would you have Biden do?

Mess with China? Sanctions work for sure. Buy our sneakers from another 3rd World shithole.

This doesn't sound too serious?

From Reuters:

"The sanctions, posted by the U.S. Treasury Department, target individuals from China's Hong Kong liaison office, used by Beijing to orchestrate its policies in the Chinese territory.

The seven people added to Treasury's "specially designated nationals" list were Chen Dong, He Jing, Lu Xinning, Qiu Hong, Tan Tienui, Yang Jianping, and Yin Zonghua, all deputy directors at the liaison office, according to online bios.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Chinese officials over the past year had "systematically undermined" Hong Kong's democratic institutions, delayed elections, disqualified elected lawmakers from office, and arrested thousands for disagreeing with government policies."

correct but pence speaking about it now is comical that we must do something like it is a new issue

China is becoming very dangerous. Pence is right to speak up. China has formed a massive foothold in America and my god, they are sooooo not our friends.

How many Chinese firms are involved in our infrastructure plans?  It's pretty crazy.

There’s 950,000,000 acres of Farmland in the US so the Chinese own 192,000 acres that about .02%,

A total of 35,000,000 acres of US farmland is Foreign  owned.
