Local town has decided that if you are under 18 you are not allowed to be out between 11pm and 5 am.  Why 11?  Why 5?   How can curfew even be legal?

Local town seems to be taking some preemptive action to do what the parents arent.

If people were "allowed" to police their own property without doing jail time, then curfews and such wouldnt be necessary.  The community would be self corrective of delinquency, and the LEO and curfews wouldnt be needed.

Townfolk generally get the government they want, at least on the local level.   If kids run amuck and parents wont reign them in, perhaps a curfew.

It wouldnt be an issue if the kids were playing ball or fishing or camping or playing pokemon.  So, as with most htings, its likely parenting and the resultant riffraff causing property damage.

Parenting???   Who'd a thunk it???   Kids get in trouble for stupid stuff all the time.  But who has the authority to tell someone they can't be in public at a particular time of the day?

The town council.

Freedom is a casualty of agreeing to be governed.

So the kid who walks down the street at 4 am to be a mate on the charter is screwed?  And the owner of the charter can't hire him because of the curfew?

Yep.  Complete BS, and a shame.

I do recall a curfew as a kid in my (or Adjoining?) town, and the kid who worked at the Bagel shop was cleared, appraently there was fine print regarding work.

I am thinking a kid going to work on a boat will be OK, unless he throws a brick into the baitshop window when it doesn't open on time.

Bethany Beach.

Trying to maintain their family atmosphere, when nearby beach towns aren't?

Ocean City MD has let the urbanites take over the boardwalk, driving families out.

Noncompliance with any and all governance that goes against your natural rights as a human is your duty.

The Tyranny that effects us most on the individual day to day level usually comes from local officials, your neighbors.....

IMO that is a Signature-line worthy post.   Should be a whole thread topic, beyond the specific curfew.

Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi's executive order Friday continues the pandemic-related state of emergency restrictions blocking access to the beach from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. and closing the boardwalk between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., the Cape May County borough said.5 days ago
