I fish Deal every year, and right around beginning of July, there are tons of mussels in the water and they pull on my line and drag it far away from the intended spot, so much so that my sand spike gets dislodged sometimes. Tons of mussels, like I break my line from the pure weight of dragging them in. It makes this water unfishable; I constantly have to cut my line because it gets so tangled. I try to move spots, either near structure of away from structure. I can't seem to avoid them at this beach. I have no idea if it's like this at every beach. Is the solution just to go to a different beach? It kinda sucks because I get a decent amount of kingfish here, at least in August. I can't recall if it dies down around this time.
