Another lathe question

Picked up this old lathe from the 60’s, in really good condition for its age.  Few things I have to fix up, was going for a test turn today but I found once I tightened the stock down that it no longer turned, I can’t see any binding anywhere, and when I take the stock out it spins freely just fine.  Any help would be appreciated.

Brainstorming......

You might be missing a washer that goes next to the left side of the gears and spaces them off the bearing

That’s what I’m thinking, probably corroded out.

If the washer was corroded out then it a very safe bet to say that the bearings are shot

Did you pull them ?

Probably, I’m thinking there might also just be a thick build up of dust.  I’ll attempt to disassemble it tomorrow.

That's an old Walker Turner driver lathe. I have one a little larger. They have double row bearings front and back. I would suggest checking and cleaning and re-lubing them
