Actually where I fish there are gill nets for stripers and they are destroying tons on marine life on our beaches from seals to dolphins to turtles no less hoards of striped bass. Much more destructive than trawlers...

I don't think its legal to gill net striper in Mass.  Maybe you should call fish and game?

Lucked into a school of small keepers in Quincy today, lots of schoolies mixed in but caught 4 keeper sized fish of consecutive casts…all released of course.

You found the rarest of all stripers. Those low 30” fish seem almost nonexistent this year.

Z,

A small charge of real big fish showed I'm the canal on Monday  at one of the worst locations.   Since then, the story has been blown out of all proportion.   This is right here in town.  I can't imagine what this story will be once it makes its way to the NY and NJ circles.

Oh they were all coming next week already no matter what. I can here the vehicles being packed right now. Start your deep breathing exercises now for anyone fishing the next set of tides

They took me by surprise , Pretty much catching dink’s all year then in the middle of the afternoon on a sunny day I was nailing these right next to the shoreline….they had some silversides packed in on the rocks….I’m really hoping the pattern repeats itself this weekend on that afternoon outgoing and maybe after dark I will switch to a Redfin or a small metal lip.

Maybe the slot limit wasnt a terrible move? Idk, but the lack of slot fish is a bad thing, and a good thing. It’s gotta reduce the amount of bass that are being kept.  Potentially a silver lining.

Then hopefully they can change the slot limit with amendment 7 to protect the 2015s who seem to have not quite moved into the slot just yet.  This would be consistent with their new goal for adding measures I protect that year class.

Been fishing the Ditch since Tuesday. Not a bump. Our hotel neighbors were involved in the Monday Massacre and have too many pics and stories. It turned into the usual social media infused shite show we all abhor.  They have been fish-less since as well. We have two more days and will fish hard throughout.

Where is the bait? Haven’t seen one bait fish since we arrived. Several small Bergals. That’s it.  No tinkers, pogies, silversides, bay anchovies. Nothing.

Switched it up and fished N.Boston overnight Saturday. Handful of bait-sized bass on big girl plugs. Stupid.

No need for 6X hooks with 15" fish. Worse, the trebles were tearing the paper-thin mouths apart on these tiny bass. Sure.. they release fine, but will they be able to feed efficiently from now on with half their mouth torn off? Will they grow stunted or skinny because of this? No clue just wondering out loud.

Tbh, I'm not interested in a hobby that features 15" bass. I didn't spend hard-earned money on quality gear to catch rats. And I'm definitely not down with pushing myself to exhaustion staying up nights for rats and schoolies. That's just dumb.

I was gonna suggest "Cunneronline".. but I think that's a porn site.

All I gotta say is there's 2 or 3wks left for additional fish of size to filter north. No such thing as 'spring migration' when it's mid-July, is there??

I went down this past Monday for first time in a year (couldn’t be bothered during COVID time), canal was LIFELESS and I left at 9:30. Figure I miss the one bite of the year. But seriously, zero bait zero anything, sad state. Was out in RI last weekend, at least there is some hope around there
