I brought my 17-year old son and a friend of his out on Casco Bay in my boat for four hours on Saturday morning. We fished three locations in the fog and landed fish in each one....ended the day with somewhere between 25-30 fish and had doubles several times and triples once.

About half the fish were small schoolies (mid to upper teens) and about half were mid-20-inch fish.  Largest was 27".  All were very aggressive and fat.

I caught several with a popper with two treble hooks.... I'll remove the treble hooks over winter and bend the barbs down to limit the chances of hooking myself in the future.

We saw a sturgeon below the boat that must have been 10-feet long also....pretty neat to see one that isn't jumping...they are huge fish and much wider than I thought.

We also had a boat troll within 30-feet of us when we were casting.... I resisted the strong urge to bounce my lure off the side of his boat.

When the tide went slack high the fish stopped biting and we motored back to the launch.

Fun trip.

Still catching, but numbers down, as is size, so you folks fishing around Jersey Shore North (OOB) and south should start seeing a pickup.  Tons of bait still around, which keeps me at it.

May just start concentrating on local river fish instead of running to the spots that have harboring larger fish.
