I believe they are somewhat cyclical too.

 

However, there are cicadas every year, even when the "great broods" aren't hatching.

Did you ever go to a biology class?
No…insects are not related to shrimp…

if they have iodine, then that will do it

I guess you know more than the FDA?

 

This week, FDA officials posted a warning they likely hadn’t anticipated needing to issue: People with seafood allergies should steer clear of cicadas, as the insects are related to shrimp and lobster. Shellfish are one of the eight major allergens that account for 90% of all food allergies and serious allergic reactions, according to the FDA.

They are making a lot of noise in Princeton right now.  But there aren't as many as there were in the last brood -not yet anyway.

we are all related to insects and shrimp and lobster in some way…
