China’s media mouthpiece threatens ‘long-range missile strikes’ on Australian soil

China’s media mouthpiece has issued an ominous warning amid deteriorating relationships with Australia.

State-run outlet The Global Times on Saturday published an editorial from its editor-in-chief Hu Xijin.

It was headlined: “China needs to make a plan to deter extreme forces of Australia.”

“Given that Australian hawks keep hyping or hinting that Australia will assist the US military and participate in war once a military conflict breaks out in the Taiwan Straits, and the Australian media outlets have been actively promoting the sentiment, I suggest China make a plan to impose retaliatory punishment against Australia once it militarily interferes in the cross-Straits situation,” Hu wrote.

“The plan should include long-range strikes on the military facilities and relevant key facilities on Australian soil if it really sends its troops to China’s offshore areas and combats against the PLA (People’s Liberation Army).”

He goes on to say that “China loves peace” but also threatens “disasters” against Australia.

“China has a strong production capability, including producing additional long-range missiles with conventional warheads that target military objectives in Australia when the situation becomes highly tense.”

The ill-concealed warning comes after Australia’s home affairs secretary spectacularly said the “drums of war” were beating.

Mike Pezzullo said Australia must strive for peace, but not at the cost of its liberty.

He did not specify a country that Australia was at odds at was subsequently told to tone down his language.

“In a world of perpetual tension and dread, the drums of war beat - sometimes faintly and distantly, and at other times more loudly and ever closer,” he said.

“Today, as free nations again hear the beating drums and watch worryingly the militarisation of issues that we had, until recent years, thought unlikely to be catalysts for war.”

His comments came after Defence Minister Peter Dutton expressed his concerns on Beijing’s stance on Taiwan.

They sort of buried the lede(yes, in this case it's spelled 'lede') there. China intends to invade Taiwan. Let's not pretend that it's common knowledge, because it just isn't and it wasn't a serious issue until the Democrat party overthrew the legitimate president.

Xi wouldn't have dared make this move while Trump was in office.
