I mean, from the top of the list of presidents with the worst fiscal and other policies vis-a-vis their economic and foreign policy impacts in our lifetimes?

According to whomever controls Jimmy Carter's Twitter account, a discussion of his dismal economic performance should be countered with a reminder of his post-presidency good works.

This flaming disaster of a president surpassed Carter as worst president the second he "won the election".The economic crisis is latest incarnation of Biden policy failure, and will be the event that will push the country into chaos. Biden must resign for the sake of the nation. He should be begging Trump to come bail him out.

Hey @MattieG. Carter hired Paul Volcker to run the Fed. His appointment was key to controlling inflation. He raised rates very high and kept them there until Inflation declined. It was really painful, but what was needed.  Inflation might have remained very high without him.  I'd say it was pretty brave for Carter to hire him, because the resulting pain of Fed policy prolly cost him the  1980 election. Reagan kept Volcker on for most of his 2 terms. BTW, stagflation existed when Carter entered  office, it started under Nixon with a series of policy shocks.

Carter’s fiscal policies set up Reagan’s boom.

Wow! This coming from a guy who argued that Bush 43’s economy hampered Obama and then argued that Trump inherited the Obama Boom.

You are saying that somehow Carter had a crystal ball which could tell him way in advance how bad Volker would have to make thing so that Carter could hire Volker bravely?

Yes, and the Iranian hostage crisis and Carter's general impotence in foreign policy and world affairs and the loss of American prestige in the world had nothing to do with his failed reelection.

Bush the Younger is the worst President of my lifetime. Maybe the worst ever.

Carter was the wrong guy at the wrong time.

Want a house, double digit interest. Credit card, forget about it. Gas, only every other day, based on license plate...if you could even get gas. 8 gallon maximum, lines, cars parked over night in a line a mile long, just to insure they would get gas before the station ran out. A lovely time.

Oh yea, Iran captured 400 some folks, and took over our embassy. Held them for Ransome. Iran released them when Reagan started his term.

Carter was a **** like Biden.

We are having the best start to a year in the history of the company I work at. Real estate values are increasing. EVERYBODY is hiring. Stock market is at a record. Covid case count is imploding. Airlines expect to have all their fleets up and running by the end of the summer. Hotel reservations are exploding.

It has to suck being a Trumpian right now and trying to dig for something, anything, negative to bitterly cling to. What a miserable way to go through life.
