She's not all that conservative.  Do you support her for GOP leadership?

Mr. Trump and House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R., La.) endorsed Ms. Stefanik for the post on Wednesday. Ms. Cheney hasn’t lobbied to keep the job ahead of an expected removal vote next week. No other lawmakers have thrown their hat in the ring.

Some conservatives have complained, privately and publicly, that Ms. Stefanik’s voting record and positions on topics from climate change to gender orientation disqualify her from the role, especially if Republicans win back the House majority in 2022. While closer to Mr. Trump, she lacks Ms. Cheney’s solid conservative voting record.

“Rep. Elise Stefanik is not a conservative and is a poor choice for a position in Republican leadership,” said David McIntosh, president of Club for Growth, in a statement Thursday.

A vote scorecard kept by conservative group Heritage Action for America signals a rightward shift by Ms. Stefanik in recent years. In the 2017-2018 term, she had a 24% score with the group, compared with the average of 64% for House Republicans. In the 2019-2020 term, her score rose to 56%, compared with the average of 85%. So far in the current Congress, she is at 84%, compared with the average of 95%.

Ms. Stefanik opposed Mr. Trump’s tax overhaul in 2017, citing its cap on deductions for state and local taxes. To some conservatives, her most controversial votes include a 2019 vote in favor of the House Equality Act, which aims to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. This year, she voted against the bill. Ms. Stefanik also voted this year for a pathway to citizenship for farmworkers in the country illegally and their family members, one of only 30 Republicans to do so.

Not a conservative, but then neither is Trump or the Republican Party, so she’d fit right it.  I don’t find her particularly interesting, but GOP leadership is not really any of my business.
