Hook guards!

This is kind of stupid but I need to know.  Does anyone have tricks on removing the little plastic hook guards on swimbaits?  Such as Tsunami.  Every time I remove them, I'm right in there with pliers and a blade.  Have had some close calls in the process.

Always used yarn snips for this. Just get under the tubing and cut them off.

 

Just don't use your mom's otherwise :beatin:

If I can’t get em off to with my fingers or pliers, like the guy above said.. out comes the lighter.

Ever use a sheetrock knife to sharpen the point on your pencil while working? I just use my knife to slice it off like that. By far the best way ive found. Slice it off like a filet on the back side of the barb and the rest just falls off
