Can anyone here do milling/machining on reels?

I have an old Crack/Luxor 300 I was interested in slotting / drilling out for a little weight reduction, anyone here have experience doing this?

There’s a couple guys on here who have done 704z’s and other Z’s. I cannot remember their usernames, best use the search for Penn Staal’s. I don’t think I’ve seen any Staal’d Crack reels tho. Either way, I don’t think you’ll get much weight reduction.

I hear ya dude, it’s 1lb 13oz without any line on right now, any reduction will help lol

Based on some thread I read on here a while ago. I think causeway bait and tackle does millings I would call them first to confirm.

So you'll get it down to 1lb 10 ounces for 500$

Is that worth it to you?

 

Or ya cold just buy a lighter more capable reel.  That does everything a helluva lot better.
