62 is old? Nah.

Not for most things, it is though for painting a 2 story house.

Last time I painted it, I was young and handsome.

I would pull the truck around and put the 24' ladder in the bed to reach the peaks.

I have a 28' now but if I do this I might get a 32' fiberglass

Ever try positioning a 32’ glass ladder? Them sumbiches are HEAVY.

I think billy has it right. I refuse ladder work anymore. Not worth the risk. I might do some single story 4/12 pitch type work.

Buy or rent the proper ladders and staging.

Find ($$) some good help.

Attack the project in sections.

It's an old victorian style, scalloped shingles in the peaks, the cedar shakes on the 2nd floor, then clapboard on the first.

I can afford it , I just think it's ridiculous , hell I do my own oil changes and brakes .

I'll probably die and leave these non helpers all set up.

I'm thinking divorce, condo, sportfish.

But then who cooks?

If you ca afford it without missing it, your  crazy to take it on, $14K is a lot of $$ to paint a house, its peanuts though if things go south. Not worth the effort and you can see who isn't affected by it, the kids, its their money, if they want it spent, spend it.

We just had a bathroom and porch/patio/walk done, talk early on about demo-ing ourselves, at 63 I'm glad we sat it out, in the end its only money and if you have it, you have it to spend.

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

I don't know man, I got this thing, always had it, maybe it's genetic, I've lived here 35 years and never had anyone do anything except the driveway.

I hooked to the sewer, put in a new heating system, roofed it, gutted and rewired and sheetrocked, and tiled and everything, but now I'm getting old, and thought maybe I can take a break.

But 14k to paint this place, I just can't swallow that.

It's a weird thing.

Oh and ya know what's even worse? Projects I do now, take like 3X longer than when I was younger.

Any of you guys notice that?

we just had our front porch of cinderblock, wrought iron and fill replaced, reparged the foundation, a slab poured for the new porch and stairs. It would have taken me a month or more, but I went to my job instead. I think I made out on the deal.
