Deep dropping for swords

Now my buddy is rigging up for daytime sword fishing offshore in the northeast.

Have any of you guys been doing it?

How is it?

Doesn't sound too appealing, but ya never know.

Never did the daytime thing.  It was always a deep drop rig set up while we were overnight chunking for tunas.  It sat there and went off....or it didn't.

One time it went off with a monster mako on it.  That was fun.  And then sad when he won the end game. :(

same as tuna gear really, just thinner braid to prevent scope.  You can't put tons of pressure on em as you'll pull the hook anyway.

Zero desire..... then again we never fished electrics or fought fish from the rod holder.... I’m at the point in life where I don’t wanna fight anything for more than 30 minutes unless it’s from a chair..... even that feels like cheating.
