Kinda chilly but spinner ?

Went out again today, but stayed in Lynnhaven bay because of the wind. My wife was crabbing and she said she saw a fish about 3 feet long swim by and she's convinced it was a small shark.

On to the actual fishing, red's were up long the grass in no more than 6" of water.  The wind was making it hard to see them until I was only a few feet away, and I spooked everyone that I saw and probably many more that I didn't.

All of the ones that I saw were defiantly slot fish, probably around 20".

Perfect day today. No fish on my line, but a few massive fish jumping clear out of the water. 3 times I saw them, but I was too far away to make our what they were.

Easily over 3 feet long, dark in color. I was about a mile out, near the mouth of the bay. Any ideas?

Sturgeon perhaps?  Seen them doing that off Delaware in the spring.

Definitely fits the description, I bet you are right.

I've always thought of sturgeon as freshwater fish, learn something new everyday. Thanks.

Cold water = unkind fish.

Could barely manage baby fish, much less anything decent. What a strange May weather pattern.
Best of luck to ya'll going out tomorrow....

The weather sucked this weekend. Stayed in and cleaned the house. I have a trip planned for Sunday hopefully we'll land the first fish of 2021.

First salty fish of the year. Live shiner got smoked by a small skate/ray thing on my second cast this afternoon. Followed by 2 hours of nothing but waves.

SSDD.

At least there was *only* a 9mph wind today.

Good luck this weekend. I'll be avoiding the big boats while getting some work done. Back on the water Monday.

Tough weekend. Went out Saturday and Sunday just south of the bay bridge. Only thing biting was a blue catfish. Daughter wanted to take it home so i made fried catfish for dinner. They're not bad eating.
