Kid,

Are those rain shields above the feeder of do they serve some other purpose (ant or bee protection)?

I bought them as rain guards .

Cool, thanks.  I have been looking for solutions for ants or bees other than reloacting the feeder.   Want to stay away from any bug spray/pesticide as the hummers are sensitive to that.  Was hoping you had found a solution.

These are the feeders we settled on after years of experimenting.  We tried all sorts of expensive fancy feeders with only marginal success. The syrup would sour, get ants, and only an occasional hummingbird.

I saw these at the Tractor Supply and tried it. The birds love them.  They're cheap, only hold a few ounces of syrup.  We gave a bunch of them. We keep a gallon of syrup in the refrigerator. Every few days we pull down the old feeders, and replace them with new ones. Wash the old ones out, and have them ready for the next round.
