Schoolies are here and in better sizes this past weekend. 22 bright and lice covered stripers in the 20-26" range for me since last Sunday (4/25) all from surf and shore. Slot fish is imminent. Waiting for that first gator; no signs yet. Still haven't gotten out to tog. Fluke opens today, so I may hit the docks.

Picky but good bite this am at ocean front 14- 24” fish mostly but I lost a real nice fish, still kicking myself. Tried 2 other spots up in bay and both were dead. Lots of bay anchovies or silver sides at one bay spot, will need to circle back

Such a rare fish and caught with a fly.

Wow- could be a fly fishing record if they have anything like that.

I heard about this but never really saw for myself. Last year I got on a really nice juvenile sand eel bite starting around this time, it abruptly ended when pogies came in skinny waters, wondering if these will coincide this year or no sand eels at all?

Sand eels usually show on the first big moon phase in June, whether it be full or new.

They are one bait that is very consistent on their timing regardless of everything else (weather, temps, etc)

caught a lot of small (12-18") fish the last week of April. this week i've been landing some almost-slot fish at some of my favorite outflows. Also..recently stumbled upon a few beached adult bunker at gansett on a beach walk

I'll bet that Tog pulled on a fly rod for sure.

There was one time I had to put the boat in gear, he snagged bottom.

Did the circle thing around the snag, finally broke free, tons of sea weed around the leader.

I'm in SOCO, Not looking to spot burn but would it be productive to hit the rocky beach areas and breach ways yet? Spent a few evenings last week at some normally productive spots and didn't get a hit any of the nights.
