i have pics but am kind of embarrassed to put them up.   what we are living in was a structural nightmare.  now mind you we have been in the house 27 years  and the shotty work was done 12 years prior to that by the home owner and obviously no permits were pulled. originally was built in 1919.

it a small house 1500 sq ft.

they found radiant heat above the false ceilings  just laying on wood and insulation. one spot was smoldering at one time which is probably why he stopped using it and stuffed the wires up there so nobody knew it was there.

huge squirrels nest was above the dining area.

none of the false ceilings were supported . he had run 2x4 all along the walls edges as a heaer and then spanned the rooms with 2x4 and nailed them to the so called header he had put in. no studs under it to support it and no hangers for support.

well it lasted all these years but we did notice the ceilings starting to bow which is part of why the renovation. all the insulation used was the thinnest kind. contractor said its more of a sound barrier then insulation.

so now adding about 2 grand to the bill to replace all the ceilings properly.  we figured surprises would pop up, but now we know it will be correct and have flat ceilings and walls and floors.

living in the bedroom for a few weeks and have the microwave and air fryer set up in the basement.   first and most likely only time to go through this.

Fish come and go, but memories of fishing with family last forever.
