Congrats. Turkey hunting is a great way to

get kids into the sport. My First ever successful hunt was a Turkey when I was 15.

It was a good morning for me as well in the turkey woods. I Called in a riled up hen with 3 toms not far behind gobbling their faces off. I Had been working on them for about an hour before the hen began to take notice and come find out what the commotion was all about. After she had laid on my decoy at 15 yds; looking for a fight; I doubled up with a friend on 2 of the 3 Toms. It was his first spring Turkey. My bird went 24 lbs with a 10” beard. His was 18lbs with a 9” beard.

It was a heavy bird. You can see the body difference making the 18 it’s next to seem almost like a Jake.

I Got my 2020 buck back a couple weeks ago. F704761E-DCFA-4549-8361-60086C867DD2.jpeg.b4e93c3a4937dece10fb678b2b8eb45a.jpeg

Nice mount. I stopped mounting deer a few years ago. Just a pile of antlers and some euro mounts.

I am not too into turkey hunting, but my son is really enjoying it. In Ma he hunts on my tags so I can’t shoot another.

In RI he has his own tags.

get him through the youth training course and he'll get his own tags.

I suppose this is technically a  shed.  I found this turkey hunting very near Quabbin.  The deer was perfectly  intact, skeletonized. Entire skeleton was intact, nothing out of place.  The area is loaded with coyotes and  bear.

Using my pocket knife  I removed the skull from the spine, and carried it around with me for the rest of the day.

Must of been fairly fresh at the time the nasal cavity is still perfectly in tact. Most deadheads I find that’s long gone sometimes they get chewed off right away; or just fall out.

You used to post a lot during turkey season; have you given it up? Always sounded like cool hunts in nicer woods than I’m used to finding turkey in.

No, didn't give up, only this year. I lost Charlie three days before the season and I lost all interest.

Those turkeys must be gobbling up a storm with excitement...

Skipped the morning hunt to look for the other half of either one of the bucks I found yesterday. No luck; but I stumbled onto a third buck; even freakier than the first two but older. One of my coolest finds yet.83A4D1E6-E5FE-4301-B599-8B96555D3EDD.jpeg.4c77a0ad229afc7fd08a96a4c68c02ae.jpeg1A82684A-258C-4D53-8CC8-2D641B9B8FDD.jpeg.aede637a82c9f525ac72d63b260f027f.jpeg

No wonder there are so many turkeys with clutches this big. She was sitting on the nest when I spotted it but bolted before I could get a pic.

Not as exposed as it looks. Was pretty well higgen 7nder a white pine sapling

The birds were active yesterday morning. I had birds gobbling all morning. Passed a Jake that then busted me before the Tom behind him got close enough. Then with 5 minutes left in the morning had a hen come in with 2 long beards behind her. She was at 13 yds and set off the alarm about 25 ft shy for me to fill my last tag on one of the toms. Didn’t leave the woods empty handed though.2256A9F5-D3B1-4377-B0A8-91C87A65D791.jpeg.5126b77af3eafe4a474d1dc0aa8f6c4d.jpeg
