Where is that and what is the reasoning behind it?

I've seen that rule on a lot of party boats, especially in Florida.

They believe (correctly, but in my opinion they are just being lazy) that braid causes more (and more complex) tangles...

I have almost exclusively used braid on my charter boat for the past 30 years...

Dial 711

Is this the braid hotline?

Hello, I'd like to report someone fishing off the pier with BRAID!

Sorry, don't have that info.

Some local Karen probably hung the sign up because she thinks it will protect the seagulls or something.

If Karen did that they would have put the sign for "NO FISHING" . :D

The logic behind that asinine sign is that braided line, once it gets caught/tangled with all the mono from the idiot dunkers. will cause even more idiots to get tangled.

Unless it's a private dock/pier, that sign is meaningless, and if you follow that rule, you could probably get held up thru the mail.
